		+	Solie's mother was a navigator and her father was a ship's steward, and after her mother died her father made a living moving from ship to ship, usually tramp freighters and small passenger liners. Often 'adopted' by the crews she lived with, she had the opportunity to gain a good understanding of most jobs aboard a starship, but particularly excelled in engineering. This general knowledge came in handy, when she was once required to pilot the ''Princess Emilie'', though her piloting ability is limited. She is not certified or licensed in any field of starship operation, but she is knowledgeable enough to be a skilled engineer.
