She station was damaged in the attack but not severely, and it was defended by the Corvettes ''Ranger, Daring and Wager'', and the gunboats ''Fury, Hope, Fox'' and ''Rose''. It received additional assistance from the Corvette ''[[Swift]]'' once control of the skies over Alkirk had been regained. The ''Daring'' and ''Hope'' were lost in the defense of Castle with all hands.
