Marine Special Warfare Badge

The Marine Commando Regiment is a unit of the Tyrin Royal Marines. Serving as a model for special forces throughout known space, the unit undertakes a number of roles including covert reconnaissance, counter-terrorism, direct action and human intelligence gathering.

The Regiment is presently comprised of three commando battalions. Each battalion consists of four companies and each company consists of four fourteen-man Marine Commando Teams (for a total of 672 commandos). Aside from a few special units, the Royal Tyrin Navy does not have commandos of it's own and relies on the Marine Commando Regiment for special operations needs. As such, The regiment is open to Navy personnel, but requires them to attend the Marine Special Warfare School and detach from the Navy to the Marines for the duration of this service. Less than five percent of the Regiment is made up of members from other services.

The insignia of the Marine Commando is the Marine Special Warfare Badge. It is antiqued gold, consisting of the globe of Tyrin surrounded by a laurel wreath, mounted by a crown and dale-dog (known for both it's ferocity and loyalty). It is worn on the left breast, and any who have completed Marine Special Warfare training and certified are entitled to wear it, despite their service branch or if they are still serving with the Regiment.

Officers and senior enlisted are also entitled to take the Marine Commando Leadership course, which gives them advanced training in leadership and battlefield tactics as it applies to the typical commando roles. Those who complete this course are also entitled to wear the Marine Commando Leadership Ribbon.
